Westminster Public Schools

Where Education is Personal

 November 13th - D50 Insider

D50 Insider

Welcome to this week's edition of the D50 Insider!

The results were not what District leaders were hoping for, but plans are already underway to move District 50 forward after voters rejected a mill levy override and bond proposal during last week’s election. The Insider has the details and reactions.

It was an emotional Veterans Day in the community as Sergeant First Class Matthew Leggett, a 1993 graduate of Westminster High School, was remembered by the Board of Education this week. He died in Afghanistan this summer.

Flynn Elementary and Shaw Heights Middle School also marked the special occasion.

A Westminster High School student has been honored as a standout scholar-athlete by her athletic conference. We will tell you who she is and let you know why LASA, the Latin American Student Association is now known as a rising star.

Speaking of honors, former Board of Education member Bob Landgraf was recognized for his work for the District earlier this month by the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB).

If you love putt-putt golf, the holiday season and spectacular light shows, Adventure Golf at Hyland Hills is the place to be this season. We have details.

And finally, tickets are still available for the Centerstage Theatre Company’s production of Avenue Q. There are performances left on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15.

As always, we have the complete lineup for District 50 Television and the Community Calendar.

Thanks for reading,
Steve Saunders
