District 50’s newest “Fred Award” winner is all about customer service, and it shows.
The Board of Education recognized Human Resource Specialist Laura Johnson as the latest “Fred Award” winner during last week’s meeting. Julie Thompson nominated her, writing: “Laura Johnson in HR totally rocks! She goes above and beyond her job responsibilities to help me with my state reporting. Because of her willingness and friendliness, my job is a bit easier. Not to mention she is always cheerful!”
The “Fred Award” was created as way to honor Education Support Professionals who go the extra mile on the job. It’s named after a mailman profiled in the book “The Fred Factor” who consistently did more than his job description required.
“I was definitely surprised to be nominated but I’m thrilled that I’m able to make a difference in somebody’s day,” Laura said. “I really do strive to provide great service each day and I always try to keep in mind how my job affects everyone else. We are all a team and we have to work together. Attitude is everything!”
