By balancing academics, athletics, family and community, Senior Gillian Muniz is a great example of the kind of student that Westminster High School produces.
This past week, Gillian signed her letter of intent with Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas to play women’s basketball while pursuing her college education.
“I chose Colby because of the coach, campus and basketball program. Those three things felt natural to me,” said Muniz.
Friends and family gathered in the gym with her Colby and Westy coaches, along with Athletic Director Glenda Bates and Westminster High School Principal Kiffany Kiewiet.

When she is not starting on the varsity volleyball or basketball teams, Gillian is busy maintaining her 4.35 GPA, coaching youth volleyball for Hyland Hills and completing her IB diploma program.
“Gillian is a soft-spoken, leader-by-example type of person in our community. We are lucky to have had her at Westy,” said Bates.
Congratulations to Gillian on her bright future!
