Letter From the Principal's Desk:
We are thrilled to be starting school this year as we have a challenging and fun year in store for our students. For the second year in a row, we will have our Sixth Grade Academy. This ensures that Sixth Graders will be together in their classes with their Sixth Grade peers and they will have the same teachers. The Academy helps them transition into Middle School without all of the high anxiety that students feel as they move into Middle School.
Several new teachers have joined our team at Shaw Heights this year and we are thrilled to have them here. New to our team are Jessica Benes – Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD), Tricia Corneau - Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD), Bree Cumbers – Speech and Language, Meryl Duguay – Students w/Special Needs, Blair Garnett – YESS Program, William Cuthbertson – Science, Devin Quinn – Science, and Linette Santisteven – Paraprofessional for our Students w/Special Needs. Please stop in to say hello to familiar and new faces at Shaw Heights!
We will continue this year with Data Binders so that all students are accountable for their school work and they can demonstrate their learning through the binders as well as show them to their parents. We highly encourage parents to monitor their children’s binders and to ask questions about their learning and progress. The binders are an excellent tool for students to keep track of their work and to be very organized throughout the year.
