John E. Flynn a Marzano Academy
The John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy is a public school of innovation created around the vision of Dr. Robert Marzano where highly-trained teachers and staff will deliver a quality education focused on academics and the development of social and emotional skills to prepare students to live productive, fulfilling lives. Flynn Elementary will become just the second Marzano Academy in the United States.
Dr. Marzano is a leading supporter of competency-based education, and was looking for a school that was equipped to implement his vision of a personalized education that meets the needs of all children. Westminster Public Schools (WPS) is the largest school district in the nation to adopt a Competency Based System learning model, and after nine years refining the model made WPS an ideal partner for Dr. Marzano.
The school will open as a pre-kindergarten though level 5 school, and will expand to include levels 6, 7 and 8.
