• Visual Learners

    Tips:
    Highlight and color color coordinate your notes
    Draw pictures and symbols to represent major for major concepts
    Create a thinking map for the information
    Use flash cards
    Create outlines

    Study Technique:
    1. Review your notes and highlight, with multiple colors, what you need / want to remember.
    2. Look at both your highlighted notes and examples from class to paraphrase the concept in your own words.
    3. On a separate piece of paper, list out all of the major concepts. For things you are unsure of, write an explanation and example.
    4. Look at and reread the paper you have created and quiz yourself.

     

     

     

    Kinesthetic Learners (hands on)

    Tips
    Stand up instead of sitting down
    Combine your study session with exercise
    Find ways to fidget while studying
    Incorporate movement to match the concepts
    Find manipulatives to help represent the concepts
    Teach the concept to a friend using examples

    Study Technique
    1. Review your notes and highlight what you need / want to remember.
    2. Look at both your highlighted notes and examples from class to paraphrase the concept in your own words.
    3. Create hand gestures (like the mirror we do in class) to help you remember what is in your notes.

     

     

    Auditory Learners

    Tips:
    Read things aloud so you can hear them
    Record yourself reading your notes and listen to it to help retain information
    Find a Khan Academy video about your topic to watch
    Repeat facts aloud with your eyes closed
    Listen to music without lyrics

    Study Technique
    1. Review your notes and highlight what you need / want to remember.
    2. Look at both your highlighted notes and examples from class to paraphrase the concept, aloud, in your own words.
    3. Record yourself reading your notes and listen to it multiple times before the test.
