Dear Ranum Families,
Because of dangerously high COVID-19 levels in Adams County and indications that public health officials will order a new round of restrictions to try and slow the spread of the virus, Westminster Public Schools has made the difficult decision to suspend in-person learning through the winter break.
Please view the videotaped message from Dr. Pamela Swanson and Board of Education President Ryan McCoy.
While we are incredibly heartbroken that we will not be in-person learning on Monday - these past 2 weeks our students have demonstrated they do have the skills to continue learning from home. We are in a much better place than we were last March.
We also know that we must make adjustments especially to ensure students stay motivated, engaged, and connected, while supporting their social emotional needs. On Friday we surveyed students and staff. On Monday we will also be sending a survey to ask our parents how we can provide you with support. Our first task will be providing easy to follow steps for checking your child's work and computer activity.
I will continue my morning Gmail messages to students and parents and we will continue our morning announcements - although they will mostly be recorded rather than YouTube live. Please use these emails to follow what we are doing and as an easy way to respond directly to me - your child's principal. Together we will turn this difficulty into an opportunity to both further learning and maintain a safe and healthy environment for us all.
For additional support - please refer to Mywps.org. This is a district resource that provides the latest information about school food programs, technology support, COVID-19 testing and other health issues.
Please remain safe and take all the necessary steps to protect you and your loved ones. And do not hesitate to reach out directly to me with questions and needs.
NEW School Hours!
In order to maximize the amount of time students and staff at Ranum are learning in a cooler classroom environment our school hours have been adjusted to earlier hours.
7:15 a.m. - 2:25 p.m.
Students may begin arriving at 7:05 a.m. and doors will open at 7:10 a.m. Students should arrive on campus with face coverings, proceed to their designated entryway, and maintain social distance protocols.
