STEM Ribbon Cutting on Monday
Students, families and community members are all invited to the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Colorado STEM Academy on Monday, September 9.
The event, which begins at 4 p.m., will provide an opportunity for people to tour the school and see student projects in action. The ribbon and cake cutting ceremony will happen at 5 p.m.
Colorado STEM Academy (CSA) is located at 72nd and Irving in what used to be Crown Pointe Charter School. Major renovations were completed over the past year to open the school last month.
CSA is District 50’s first Innovation School offering a rigorous education focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. This year CSA is open to students grades 3 through 6 and will expand to 7th graders next year and 8th graders the year after.
“Our opening has gone well,” said Principal Anthony Matthews. “CSA is an exciting place to be right now. All the students and staff are all here by choice and you can tell.”
The CSA concept was approved by the District 50 Board of Education last year and the Colorado Board of Education granted the school “Innovation Status” earlier this year. “Innovation Status” allows for more flexibility in the operation of the school.
