Unique Act Headlines Mesa Fundraiser Friday Night
In the words of one Mesa Elementary School student, “You have to see it to believe it.”
The Boulder based music group “Face” performs Friday, September 20 at Westminster High School as part of a fundraiser for Mesa Elementary’s after-school enrichment program. Westminster High School’s “Raging Harmonies” will be the opening act for the concert which begins at 7:00 p.m.
“Face” uses just five singers and a vocal drummer to create an amazing sound that captures the beauty of acapella vocals and the energy of rock band.
Last week students from Mesa, along with teacher Christa Conrad, personally invited Board of Education members to the concert and showed them a video clip of the group in concert. You can see the clip below.
“We were trying to think outside the box for fundraising ideas,” said Conrad. “Our former principal, Shannon Willy, is a big fan of the group and suggested we reach out to them. It helped that teacher Jennifer Ross is married to one of the band members.”
In addition, the school picked up the support of two key sponsors. Regis University donated money to the effort and Home Depot covered all of the printing costs.
Not only will families have a great time, Conrad says the money will be well spent. “We feel that it is important to extend learning beyond the school day,” she said.
