Homecoming Parade, Powder Puff and Alumni Football Next Saturday
A parade and two football games highlight the kickoff to Homecoming celebrations for Westminster High School next weekend.
The festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with the annual Homecoming Parade that starts at Westminster High School and winds its way through parts of old downtown Westminster and finishes back at the high school.
Registration for floats is open through Friday, September 20.
Registration and parade route details can be found here.
The parade is being coordinated with the city of Westminster and the South Westy Arts Groups which is hosting the 4th annual Orchard Festival along the Rodeo Super Market on 73rd avenue. The event offers food, live music, art and activities for children.
At the completion of the parade, football fans are invited to District 50 Memorial Stadium to watch the annual Powder Puff Game between the high school seniors and junior girls. With the boys dressing as cheerleaders, it’s a tradition that dates back to the 1960’s.
At 6:00 p.m. the second annual Ranum/Westy Alumni Football game is also scheduled at Memorial Stadium. Teams, consisting of alums from both schools, have been practicing for several weeks in hopes of capturing bragging rights for the coming year.
A donated food item is required for admission to the game.
