• Homecoming Parade Marches to ‘Masquerade’ Theme

Perfect fall weather brought out hundreds of spectators for the 2013 Westminster High School Homecoming Parade.

    The theme this year: Masquerade.

The annual parade kicked off a series of Saturday events to mark the start of homecoming week. In the afternoon, the Westminster High School Senior girls squared off against the Junior girls in the powder puff football game. It was followed in the evening by the second annual Westy/Ranum Alumni Flag Football game.

During the week, students also dressed to a theme for each day. Wednesday, for instance, students were encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness programs. Thursday students dressed as super heroes.

This week’s homecoming events culminate with the Friday night football game against Prairie View and the Saturday night homecoming dance.

The parade, put together by Fran Goff-Gonzales, featured student created floats along with entries from local businesses and community groups.

The judges this year were School Board President Marilyn Flachman, School Board Member Sharon Whitehair, School Board Member Elect Ryan McCoy, as well as Deanna and Don Schaffer.
