Fall Choirs Bring the Crowd
The house was packed for the Fall Choir Concert earlier this month as more than 500 community members came to the Westminster High School auditorium to hear performances from all of the high school vocal groups.
Directors Larry Meerdink and Whitney Meininger led the program as the choirs sang pieces that ranged from the 16th century to present day. “We sang a piece by Pierre Certon (1510-1572),” said Meerdink. “It’s so positive to bring a huge cross section of our school together to celebrate art.”
Boys’ choirs, girls’ choirs, chorales and acappella groups alike entertained with favorites such as “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” and “Hallelujah”.
Singer and Westy High Junior Makayla Martinez heard a clear difference from past years. “Los Lobos (the boys’ choir) was the strongest I have ever heard them,” she said.
The next chance to catch the choirs will be December 19th for their Winter Concert.
