New Board of Education Shares Laughs, Commits to Hard Work
It was a night of laughter and goodwill mixed with the realization that some important hard work lies ahead.
The new District 50 Board of Education, comprised entirely of Westminster High School graduates, was sworn in last month with members vowing to work on behalf of all of community’s children. The board members also voted on leadership positions.
Ruben Pacheco was unanimously selected to serve as President, while Dino Valente will serve as Vice President.
Board newcomer Joe Davidek was selected Secretary and the Ryan McCoy, the other newly elected member, will serve as Treasurer.
District 50 voters defeated 3-B, a $5.25 mill levy override, meaning the new board will be confronted with some difficult budget decisions. In addition, board members will continue to push the District for improved academic performance.
Still, given that all of the board members have long time ties to the community, there was an opportunity for some jokes and teasing, especially when the old graduation pictures came out.
This week’s Insider Video has more.
