Welcome back to this week’s edition of the D50 Insider.
The inspiring story of Shaw Heights Middle School Assistant Principal Jerry Martinez is being used to tell kids how important their education is and why they should take TCAP tests seriously. A video of him telling his story is being shared with students across the district.
Safety is always a high priority in District 50 and that’s why the Incident Response Team participated in a training exercise last week. We have details.
Columbine Principal Frank DeAngelis steered his community through the aftermath of the shootings at his school 15 years ago. He is a Ranum High School graduate and the guest speaker at next month’s District 50 Education Foundation Community Breakfast. Frank shares some of his thoughts with the Insider.
Colorado STEM Academy is now accepting applications for the next school year. Prospective families can now see a video that captures what STEM is all about. You can see it here.
It’s called “Incredible Years” and helps ECC students learn to control their emotions and build the basics for happy lives. We will tell you about the program.
“High School Musical” is this year’s spring production by the Centerstage Theatre Company. It’s also the subject of the latest edition of the student produced show “Our Voice.”
Music was also on tap at Adams County School District 50 Secondary Orchestra Festival last week. We have the highlights.
And speaking of creative people … the works of some of Westminster High School’s best artists are now on display on the second floor. It’s part of the IB Art Show and we highlight some of the exhibit.
