Metz Elementary Inspired by Celebrity Visit
Metz elementary had a visit from Hollywood recently, where students learned an important lesson, not about acting, but living a healthy life.
Actor, humanitarian and motivational speaker Esai Morales stopped by Metz Elementary to deliver a timeless message to the young students.
Known for his roles in La Bamba and My Family, Morales shared the importance of eating healthy and staying positive for the sake of their well-being and education. He pointed out that there was a difference between eating healthy foods that give you sustainable energy and eating unhealthy foods that give you energy from high sugar amounts. “Good food will keep you intelligent, calm and beautiful; inside and out,” said Morales.
Students responded to Morales as they learned he voiced “Papi” in the hit Nickelodeon TV show Dora the Explorer.
Esai also shared that his education, positive attitude and kindness towards others gave him endless opportunities. “If you feel for another, that just means you’re human,” said Morales.
Claudette Trujillo, principal of Metz, met Esai at the Xicanindie film festival at Su Teatro in Denver. During a conversation, she invited the actor to come to Metz to talk to her students. Trujillo and Metz were surprised when Morales made time in his busy schedule to come by. “It was an awesome surprise... It is not often that a celebrity takes time out of his day to come to a local elementary and give to kids. Esai was inspiring and we are so thankful for his humility and kindness,” said Trujillo.
Esai has also been a cast member of Law and Order, NYPD Blue and CSI Miami.
