Four Schools Participating in ‘Sports Matters’ Tennis Fundraising Program
It’s a chance to let kids play tennis, make your donation grow and keep our kids healthy, all at the same time.
Sunset Ridge, Mesa and Hodgkins Elementary Schools along with Ranum Middle School have been selected to participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation “Sports Matters” initiative. The Foundation will make a dollar for dollar matching grant to each school provided they reach their fundraising goal.
The clock is ticking because the fundraising deadline is May 23.
“District 50 students deserve to be engaged, healthy, happy and strong, and having access to this team is an important piece of that,” said Pat Kelly who works with the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning Program and is also President-Elect of the District 50 Education Foundation.
The fundraising effort is critical if the tennis programs are to survive at each of the schools. Kelly said there is a lot at stake with this campaign.
“This is about letting kids experience the power of sports and the power of tennis to build leadership, confidence and self-worth,” she said.
