• Metz Elementary Playground to Receive Upgrade

    Metz

Work will begin this summer on a new playground at Metz Elementary thanks to a major grant from the Colorado Health Foundation (CHF).

The $230,000 grant is being used to implement CHF’s strategy of, “creating healthy communities where it is easy to access safe, affordable options for physical activity for kids.”

The new playground will feature the latest technology in terms of safety and activities for children in the Westminster community. “We hope the playground will maximize the time children spend exercising and promote overall healthy lifestyles,” said Student Services Coordinator Anthony Streno who successfully applied for the grant. “Healthy children are much better students.”

Additional upgrades in District 50 before the 2014-2015 school year begins include new heating and cooling units at five elementary schools as well as a new gym floor at Harris Park.
