Young Football Players Learn from Westminster’s Elite
Westminster High School football players took some time out of their summer practice to help players of the future.
Young football players took to the Westminster High School football fields this summer in the 5th annual Westminster High School Youth Football Camp.
Players, ages 7-13, were invited to join the camp and spend time running drills and playing the game under the supervision of Coach Kerry Denison and his Westminster High School football team and coaching staff.
This year, over 400 young players signed up; the most in all of the years of the camp. Among them was Tony “Stroob” Castillo. “It’s nice to learn from the high school players, and I plan to pass it on when I get to high school as well,” he said.
Denison has run the program for all five years and says it won’t be long before he will be coaching many of the young students at the high school level. “We are hoping that many of these players will come to Westy to try out for our high school team in the years to come,” said Denison.
As for the big guys, they say they are ready to go.
The first Westy Wolves game is on the road at Rangeview on August 28th.
The season home opener is September 4th against Hinkley.
