72nd and Raleigh Bridge Replacement Project
As you may be aware, the city of Westminster has begun work to replace the bridge at 72nd and Raleigh Street that runs over Little Dry Creek. It is a high-priority project for the city that will ultimately lead to a safer and more attractive intersection. Over the next year, however, it will have a fairly significant impact on traffic patterns into and out of Westminster High School.
72nd Avenue
During much of the construction project traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Bradburn Blvd. and Stuart.
The city estimates that there will be at least two periods of time when 72nd Avenue will be completely closed between Bradburn Blvd. and Stuart. The city will offer as much advance notice as possible and provide signage about available detours.Raleigh Street
There will be long stretches of time during the construction project when Raleigh Street south of 72nd Avenue will be closed to all traffic and/or reduced to a single lane.
Utica Street (two blocks west of Raleigh) will remain open at all times, providing a safe entry and exit point to Westminster High School. Campus monitors will be in the north parking lot to facilitate the traffic flow and try to avoid backups.Tips
Allow extra time when arriving or leaving Westminster High School.
Stay informed by reading updates on the Westminster High School web page and reading traffic signage from the City of Westminster.
Exercise patience and flexibility.
Remember that SAFETY is the highest priority.
Contact the city of Westminster at 303-658-2125 with questions.
More information about the project can be found here.
