‘Fred’ Award Winners Bring out Fans
Turns out the two latest “Fred Award” winners have very enthusiastic fan clubs.
Teachers, students and staff from Metz and Hodgkins Elementary Schools showed up at Tuesday night’s board meeting to show how much they appreciate Martha Maestas and Oscar Ramirez. They came with signs and banners celebrating the work of the two employees.
Maestas is the Media Specialist at Metz and was nominated by Principal Claudette Trujillo who described her as, “an exceptional employee and an exceptional person.”
Hodgkins Principal Sarah Gould nominated custodian Oscar Ramirez who has worked at Hodgkins since the building opened in 2009.
“I have never, and I mean NEVER seen Oscar without bright eyes, a kind heart and a smile. Oscar gets called to take care of some tough clean ups and he has never once done it without a smile. He is the heartbeat of our building.”
The “Fred Award” was created as way to honor Education Support Professionals who go the extra mile on the job. It’s named after a mailman profiled in the book “The Fred Factor” who consistently did more than his job description required.
