A Tradition of Giving to D50 Families in Need
For 13 consecutive years, Moira Luebbert has arrived at Have a Heart to give a donation of winter coats for District 50 families in need. This year was the largest, being about three times the amount donated in the past. Luebbert and Have a Heart volunteer and board member, Annette Vigil, unloaded a car full of winter coats last week to later be distributed.
The tradition began with Moira’s daughter, Rachel, who decided to celebrate her birthday in a very unique way.
“She invited all her friends and asked that they bring coats instead of presents, “ said Luebbert proudly.
Have a Heart is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of school-age children and their families in the District 50 community. All services at Have a Heart are free and 100% of donations go directly to families in need.
Even though Rachel is now in college, Luebbert continues to help make sure families are prepared for cold winter days. With snow in the extended forecast, she brought them in just in time.
Have a Heart will be open Saturday, February 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
