Retiring Principal of Tennyson Knolls Elementary Honored
After 37 years in education, Tennyson Knolls Elementary School Principal Tom Elliott is retiring at the end of the school year. He already knows how much his students and staff think of him, now he knows the feelings of his fellow principals and the Board of Education.
In an unscripted moment, Dino Valente, Vice President of the Board asked Elliot and the District’s other Elementary School Principals to step forward during this week’s meeting. Valente praised Elliott for doing, “a fantastic job at the school and being a father figure to many of our students and a mentor to many of our teachers.” He added, “Enjoy your retirement and visit us often.”
After a rousing round of applause and a standing ovation from principals, the Board of Education and the audience, Elliott shared a few words: “I appreciate being a part of this family and part of the efforts that go on here. It’s refreshing to go to a place where people are trying to move forward instead of swimming in the past.”
