Hodgkins Collects ‘Pennies for Patients’
All those pennies quickly add up! Just ask the students at Hodgkins Elementary.
This year’s Pennies for Patients charity event raised $2,506.20 in donations for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Over a two week period, classrooms collected spare change for this important cause, and recently members of the student council joined school administrators in running all the change through a Coinstar machine that sorts and counts the coins.
The result - in the words of Principal Sarah Gould - “amazing.”
Since 1994, more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country have participated in the program raising more than $260 million. You can learn more about Pennies for Patients here.
