• Behavior Chart:
I use a color-coded clip system to monitor behavior in our classroom. At the beginning of each day, students begin the day on green (the middle color on the chart), and can move up for good behaviors or down for poor behaviors. Students who end the day on purple (the highest color on the chart) are rewarded with a trip to the class "treasure chest." Students who end the day on red (the bottom color on the chart) will receive a note or phone call home to parents.
Students will have nightly reading homework. They are expected to read a minimum of thirty minutes per night and get their reading calendars initialed by an adult.  At the end of each week, students and parents will total the number of minutes read. Students who meet our class goal of 2,000 minutes per semester will receive an award at the awards assembly, as well as be able to  participate in a special  event determined by Mr. Vadeen.
Students will have math homework 2-3 times a week on average. Math homework is always due the day after it is given. Additionally, students will be given weekly spelling lists (sent home in Thursday folders for the following week) that they are encouraged to study at home. Spelling tests will be given on Fridays (a full week after new lists are given).
