Students Return to Classroom
About 10,000 students, most of them excited and no doubt a little anxious returned to the classroom this month for the start of the 2015/16 school year. It is always a busy and exciting couple of days.
Most of the students began classes on August 19th, with students from Hidden Lake High School and Colorado STEM Academy starting a little earlier.
Superintendent Pam Swanson began her day at Harris Park Elementary where she helped new Principal Nancy Richey greet families. They also celebrated the “spiffed up” look of the building which was painted over the summer.
The school year runs through May 25th for most students. You can get a detailed look at the entire school year calendar here.
This has also been an exciting time for the 89 new teachers who joined the District 50 family this summer and are now sharing their passion for education with their students. Among them, Steven Garcia of Metz Elementary. The Insider was with him on his first day of school and next week’s edition will have a video profile of his first day on the job.
