Welcome to this week’s edition of the District 50 Insider.
It was a busy, fun weekend in the community and the Insider has it covered.
Students from Hodgkins Elementary were the lucky participants in this year’s “Putts for a Purpose” event at Adventure Golf. It’s the subject of our Insider video.
Metz Elementary hosted its second annual Hot Rod Car show on Saturday, while the Irving Street Library kicked off its new Sunday hours with a community celebration.
We have some leadership changes to tell you about. The Insider will introduce you to the District’s newest Principals and Assistant Principal’s as well as the Executive Director of the District 50 Education Foundation. We have a link to their new newsletter as well.
A tentative date has been set for our community forum in which the candidates for the Board of Education will answer your questions about why they should get your vote. Mark your calendar for October 6th.
Last week the Board of Education recognized Dale and Dar Emme for their leadership in working to prevent teen suicide. It was 21 years ago that there son took his life and since then, they have partnered with District 50 to raise awareness.
Our healthy food program has been in the spotlight as Congress debates possible changes to federal laws regarding school nutrition programs. Two local news stations visited two of our schools and we have the links so that you can see their stories.
Finally, a round of cheers for the Westminster High School football team. The Wolves are 2-0 and the high-powered offense seems unstoppable. We have the details.
