• Rods for a Good Cause Returns

Metz Elementary celebrated its 2nd Annual “Rods for a Good Cause” Car Show this past Saturday in the parking lot of nearby Ranum Middle School.

Created by Metz Principal Claudette Trujillo and a team of involved parents, RFAGC is a community event filled with cars, decorated bikes, games, food, live music and crafts for all ages.

In addition to the community getting together to celebrate, the event raises money for technology and field trips for Metz students.

Entries came from as far as Colorado Springs to participate in the friendly car show competition. The winners of RFAGC are selected by popular vote by spectators for several categories including Best Classic, Best Antique, Best Hot Rod, Best Low-rider and Principal’s Choice.

Trujillo was thrilled with the turnout and enthusiasm, and she is already looking forward to next year. “What an awesome day,” she said. “Thank you to everyone for the great games, music, food and fun!”
