WHS Football Rolls, Running Back Dickerson Nominated for State Award
The high powered Westminster High School Football team improved to 4 and 0 on the season with a convincing 54 to 18 win over Thornton last week that leaves the Wolves undefeated and at the top of the Flatirons Conference. They are now busy preparing for a Friday home game against Brighton.
In addition, running back Brandon Dickerson has been named a finalist in the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week statewide competition. Brandon is one of three student athletes up for the award. You can read more about the award and cast your vote for him here.
“Brandon is the epitome of what it means to be a student athlete. He is team captain for football and baseball and his leadership abilities carryover into the classroom,” said Westminster High School Athletic Director Glenda Bates.
Dickerson ran for 85 yards and five touchdowns during Friday night’s game against Thornton. He is averaging more than a hundred yards a game and has scored 11 touchdowns in just four games.
The team as a whole has outscored its four opponents 184 to 70. The Wolves have scored the most points of any team in the league and have allowed the fewest total points as well. It is a potent combination.
Friday’s game is at 7:00 p.m. at District 50 Memorial Stadium. Go Wolves!
UPDATE: Congratulations to Brandon Dickerson, Westminster High School Football captain, for receiving 1866 votes out of a total 4,200 and being named the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week for Week 2! Thank you to everyone who voted!
