Major Improvements on the Way for Flynn Elementary
Flynn Elementary will soon be a nicer building to look at, but more importantly, it will be a little bit safer year round and cooler on the hottest days of the year.
At the October 27th Board of Education meeting, the board unanimously approved a proposal to finance long overdue upgrades to the building located in the northwest corner of the District at 88th and Lowell.
GH Phipps Construction Company was awarded the contract to provide an office remodel and security upgrades for the building along with a new heating and air-conditioning system. Work on the office remodel will begin after the first of the year with the HVAC installation scheduled for the summer months.
The District’s long range planning process identified Flynn as the highest priority building.
“We know that the effectiveness of learning is dependent on great teachers in the classroom, but a safe, secured, and comfortable environment is also vital to a child’s success,” said Principal Justin Davis. ”We are grateful to the Board of Education and members of district leadership who have been planning and organizing this important project for a long time.”
