Academy Helps Connect Parents to Education
Westminster High School and District 50 hosted families from across the region Saturday in a daylong seminar designed to help parents better connect with their children’s education. Adams County School Districts 1, 12, 14 and 50 teamed up with the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition to give parents the tools they need to help their children thrive.
The Parent Academy offered a series of workshops, in English and Spanish, covering a wide range of topics. The message: the better informed and engaged the parents are, the more successful their children will be.
In addition to the workshops, parents were also provided with toolkits to help children navigate the journey from pre-kindergarten through high school.
About 200 people attended the Parent Academy, which included a panel discussion with District 50 Superintendent Pam Swanson and Adams 12 Superintendent Chris Gdowski.
