Flynn Elementary Honors Our Veterans
This year’s Annual Veterans Day celebration at Flynn Elementary School came with a homework assignment; find ways to honor our veterans all year long.
The celebration was organized 15 years ago by Cynthia Qualls, who felt the holiday was too important to go by without students fully understand what the day is all about. Flynn Elementary students invite their relatives who have served our country to come and be honored with songs and speeches and also eat cake with their loved ones.
Among those attending were Westminster Mayor Herb Atchison and Mayor Pro Tem Alberto Garcia.
Veterans Day is always celebrated on November 11, to mark the end of World War I which was declared over on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year.
Watch the video to hear from some of our honored veterans and see the challenge put before the students.
