Tennyson Knolls Teaches Good Health
Tennyson Knolls families are a little healthier this week thanks to a night focused on fitness and good eating habits. As a plus, families also got to see some impressive artwork.
Principal Brian Kosena and his staff hosted the first Family Fitness and Art Night last Thursday with more than 250 people turning out for the event.
“It was a great opportunity to bring our families together to focus on healthy living,” said Kosena. “If an entire family is on the same page about exercise and nutrition, the odds are really good that young children will pick up good habits.”
In addition to Zumba and wall climbing there was also a powerful presentation on the dangers of smoking and the damage it can do to lungs.
As for nutrition, the team from Chartwells brought along its pedal powered smoothie mixer for kids to create their own healthy drinks. The blender, which is attached to a stationary bike, turns leg power into a healthy drink.
The two hour event also showcased the artwork of every student at Tennyson Knolls.
The bottom line; a healthy body contributes to a creative brain.
