• WHS Wind Ensemble Headed to State Band Festival

    Wind Ensemble

The Westminster High School Wind Ensemble is taking its talents to Fort Collins and the 2016 State Band Concert Festival April 11th and 12th.

The band receive a Superior rating at the Colorado Bandmasters Regional Concert Band Festival to earn the right to compete in state competition. It’s a major honor for the students and recognition of just how far the music program has come at Westminster High School.

“This is a major leap forward for all of us,” said Michael Vallez, Director of Bands at Westminster High School. “We will have the opportunity to showcase our talents and see what other top-notch band programs in the state are doing.”
Both the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band performed at the regional event with the Symphonic Band receiving an Excellent rating from the judges.

At the State Concert Band Festival, out-of-state judges will evaluate all the performing groups and give them ratings, much like at the Regional Concert Band Festivals. The state event is taking place in Griffin Concert Hall on the Colorado State University Campus. Performance times have not yet been announced.
