Students Return to School August 16
August 16th has been set as the day most Westminster Public School students will return to the classroom. It means an eleven week summer break for students given that this school year ends on May 25th for most students.
Later this spring, the Insider will be providing tips for parents and families so students can prevent the so called “summer slide” where students forget some of what they have learned in the previous school year. It’s critically important that students continue to learn and push themselves academically over the summer months.
Next year’s school calendar provides a week long break for Thanksgiving (no classes the week of November 21) and a 12 day vacation over the winter break running from December 19th through January 3rd.
Spring break in 2017 will run from March 27th to March 31st.
Individual schools have a limited number of non-student contact days next year which are determined at each individual building. Those details will be shared as soon as possible.
You can access the English and Spanish language versions of the calendars here.
New teachers are scheduled to arrive in the District on August 2nd with the veteran staff returning the following week.
For year round employees, Monday July 4th has been set aside for the traditional Fourth of July holiday.
