Art on Display at WHS
The impressive artistic talent and cultural diversity of Westminster High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) seniors is on full display at the school for everyone to experience.
Westy teacher Michelle Music expressed how proud she is of her IB students and how important artistic expression is in education. “Not only do the arts connect us with our humanity, but they teach critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, social/self/cultural awareness, tolerance and patience.”
The IB Art Show requires students to create a cohesive series of works involving a variety of mediums and be able to explain their artistic choices. It requires more than just artistic skill, but the ability to articulate a point of view.
The opening reception was held last Friday where the students presented their work to the community. The IB Art Show will be on display through March 25th.
Westy will also be hosting the Westminster Public Schools 14th Annual Art Show, which includes works of art from all levels and schools throughout the district in April.
The event includes drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and much more! Students, families and the community are invited to join us for the opening reception on Friday, April 8th from 4:30 – 7:00 pm on the second level of Westminster High School.
