• Greenhouse Dedication Combined with District Plant Sale

    Phil Love

On Friday, April 22nd you can not only celebrate the naming of the greenhouse after retired horticulture teacher Phil Love, you can also indulge your own green thumb.

This year’s annual plant sale will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the greenhouse with the dedication ceremony beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The plant sale resumes the next morning, on Saturday, April 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then returns with the same hours on Saturday, May 7th.

While the plant sale is a popular annual tradition, it’s the naming of the greenhouse after Love that will make this a year to remember.

Under Love’s guidance, the greenhouse opened in October of 2012, built with the assistance of a $100,000 grant from the Colorado Home and Garden Show which was one of the largest grants ever given by the organization.

Because of Love’s devotion to horticulture, and more importantly his students, the District’s horticulture program has become one of the most respected in the state.
