Six Students Receive Youth Awards
Five Westminster High School Students as well as a student from Scott Carpenter Middle School have been named winners of The Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award.
The award honors young people who have overcome personal adversity, created positive change in a difficult environment or have made strides despite their limitations. The students were nominated for the award by teachers and counselors who recognized the student’s achievements and contributions to the community.
The recipients have been honored by the both the city of Westminster and Adams County.
On March 29th the Board of Education honored Dylan Coad from Scott Carpenter Middle School and at the April 12th meeting the board honored Matthew De Loa, Ivan Mendoza, Taylor Lewis and Gabriel Gallegos.
Star Gallegos was unable to attend.
The award, which was established in 1986 was formerly known as the Metropolitan Mayors’ and Commissioners Youth Award.
