PARENTS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS HAVE COATS EVERY DAY
Please make sure that your child is properly dressed for the weather. We do go outside before school and for recess in the winter and students need to have coats and hats. Students will be outside for recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees including the wind chill factor. If your child has lost their jacket at school, please come to the office and ask to visit our lost and found. Any items left in the lost and found for more than 30 days will be donated to “Have a Heart” Foundation.
ONLINE REGISTRATION
This conferences be sure to stop at the front table and request your online registration Username and Password. The 2017-18 registration will all be done online for returning students! The user names and passwords will be handed out February 8-10. There will be no school for students on Friday, February 10, 2017.
ONLINE REGISTRATION HOURS
If you have a computer, cell phone, IPad, Kindle or tablet you can register your student from any of these devices. If you still need help registering your student, you may stop by the office between the hours of 8:30-10:00 and 1:00-2:30. There will be extra Spanish help on Tuesdays, 8:30-10:00 and 12:00-3:00pm and Wednesdays, from 8:30-10:00am and 12:00-3:00pm. This is to help with our busy lunchtime hours and our busy student check out at the end of the day. Thanks for your cooperation.
DRILLS
Fire drills are held once each month; tornado drills are held in September and March; and Lockout/Lockdown drills are held twice per school year. If you arrive during one of these drills, you may find the front doors locked and a notice posted. Please be patient, these drills are important to the safety of all our students.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
• The Children’s Museum of Denver offers free admission on the first Tuesday night of each month from 4-8pm.
• Denver Zoo offers free admission on Sunday, February 12th and Monday, February 13th.
• Cooking Classes will begin on Tuesday February 14th, please see attached flyer!PALABRAS DE LA DIRECTORA:

Learning Goals are getting achieved!

We are off to a great start in our second semester of school. Our school is full of smart, happy students who are achieving their goals. As I walk through the classrooms I see active learning taking place and motivated kids and staff. I am always astounded how proficient the children are with their online learning as well. Learning is occurring in cooperative groups, pairs, independently and with engaging whole group lessons. Teachers are providing creative and meaningful ways for students to gain new knowledge and grow. Conferences are coming up soon; be sure to come and find out about the awesome learning taking place for your child. Check out Facebook on our webpage, as it is filled with exciting events from the school. See you soon.

TOYS FROM HOME
Too many things can happen when your student brings their toys or collectibles from home. As outlined in our Parent Handbook please do not bring toys from home. These will be confiscated and kept for a parent to pick up.

Kindergarten Requirements
Posted by Cindy Davis on 9/8/2016 9:00:00 AMKindergarten provides children with opportunities to work, play and learn to share, accept, and respect individual differences, They learn to to express themselves and develop physical coordination and begin to work with language and general readiness for first grade. During the 2016-17 school year Westminster Public Schools will continue to provide a full day Kindergarten program at each school. Children must be five years old by October 1 to enroll.
To register children will need:- Up to date Immunization Record
- A state issued birth certificate ( you will be unable to register your student without a birth certificate)
- A valid proof of residency (acceptable proof would include: cable bill, valid driver's license,electric or gas bill, insurance bill, lease or mortgage receipt, phone bill,a state ID, tax bill, or a water bill).
- All new kindergarten students will be assessed with a screening that has been developed by District staff. the assessment will take about a 1/2 hour per student to administer and provides information about academic readiness in the areas of development literacy and mathematics. It can be administered in English or Spanish, depending on the child's native language. When you register in August someone will call you to schedule an assessment time with your child.
