Hello Metz Families,
December was an awesome month for our students. They continue to enjoy and engage in high quality lessons and advance through our performance levels.
We hosted our first dance of the school year and were very excited to have so many of our students and their parents join us! Thank you to our PTA for providing our food, music and decorations for our dance. Many of our teachers were able to join their students at the dance as well.
December also marks our testing month for mid-year assessments. Both the Scantron and DIBELS test help us know how our students are progressing with reading, math and science skills. Teachers then analyze the results and work with the students to understand what these results mean. The tests will be taken again at the end of the year to determine the growth they have made this year. These results will also be shared with parents during our conferences this month which will take place on January 28, 29 and 30th. Our days for winter conferences is different than in the past. There will be no school for students on January 28th and the day will be reserved for conference appointments. Evening conferences will take place on the 29th and 30th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sign-up sheets will be sent out this week in the Thursday folders. Please complete these and promptly return with your child to ensure you get signed up for a conference spot with the classroom teacher.
This month, our English Language Learners will be testing on their English proficiency. This Access test is completed once a year and provides our teachers will their student’s progress specifically related to language acquisition.
We invite you to like our school Facebook page to see relevant/timely information and to see what your children are learning.
Thank you for your partnership.
