Hello! My name is Jessica Read and I am the middle school counselor for the Future Center at Colorado Sports Leadership Academy, Colorado STEM Academy, John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy, Metropolitan Arts Academy, Ranum Middle School, Shaw Heights Middle School, Skyline Vista, Tennyson Knolls Preparatory, and Westminster Academy for International Studies. My role is to support the career awareness, exploration and planning for 6th to 8th graders in WPS. I am in my sixth year at WPS, and have spent over nine years as a secondary school counselor in Colorado. I like to spend my free time reading, painting and drinking coffee.

I am your contact for questions about concurrent enrollment and ASCENT. This is my fifth year as a counselor in Westminster Public Schools (WPS). Prior to coming to WPS, I worked as a legal assistant, and counseling intern in Jeffco and DPS. I love helping students navigate the high school and postsecondary process to acheive their personal goals and dreams. In my free time, I like to see live theatre, watch lots of films, and spend time with my family.

I lead the first bilingual program in our district that provides families with the knowledge and skills to ensure their children achieve full potential. I am from Colombia, South America, where I worked as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. I moved to Colorado after working for more than ten years as an executive director of a non-profit organization in Louisiana. I like to travel and enjoy different cultures.

I am a Denver native, bilingual, and have over 17 years of experience in education. My passion for developing and implementing student engagement stems from an amazing high school mentor that shifted the paradigm of my life. I have a bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver in Hospitality, Meeting & Travel Administration with an emphasis in Event Management. I also have a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching certificate in Business and Marketing. I thrive on identifying personal student goals, developing leadership skills, and planning career moves. I make certain that students are ready to be successful with employment strategies such as resumes, interviewing skills, and building self-confidence. My interests include entrpreneurship, my Pomeranian, being an event planner, traveling and spending time with my family.
