  • COVID-19 Vaccine

    The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded the Emergency Use Authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine down to age 5 years. We want to encourage parents and guardians to prepare for the vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old by talking to their child’s health care provider, learning the facts about COVID-19 vaccines, and scheduling an appointment ahead of time. Vaccines for children and teens website.


     


    Denver Post Guest Commentary on School Ratings

    In January 2020, Jack Schneider and Paul Vranas shared this opinion piece with readers about the shortcomings in the current rating systems that many parents use to choose a school. I hope you will take a moment to read this very thoughtful look at how schools are often measured and why educators need to do a better job of informing parents.


    Management Pathway Plan

    Westminster Public Schools (WPS) worked with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to create a Management Pathway Plan to support continuous improvement in the district. The plan will be presented to the CDE on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

    The Board of Education approved this plan at its meeting on Tuesday, April 25. Here is the recommendation from CDE and the WPS plan summary.

    Immigration Support Resources

    In light of the 2016 election and questions raised about possible changes to immigration laws and enforcement, we have created links to answer questions and provide a list of some online resources.


    CDE Position Statement

    WPS submitted a detailed position statement to CDE arguing that a change in the district rating to the Improvement category is warranted. The position statement is a required step in the appeal process after CDE denied a request for reconsideration in 2016 to move WPS from Priority Improvement to Improvement status.
