Education and Experience
I am a home-grown Coloradan, having completed my entire pre-college years in the Eagle Valley School District. After graduation, I was able to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for four years. There I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. Through the university, I was able to complete my student teaching in the Aldine Independent School District which resides in the heart of the Houston Metro area.

After completing my student teaching, I moved back to Utah and there moved with my husband down to Phoenix. I taught in the Madison Elementary School district for five years. There I was heavily involved in our transition from a traditional school to an International Baccalaureate school, piloted a Bring Your Own Device program, and established the First Lego League Robotics club. When given a chance to return home to Colorado, my husband and I jumped at the chance. I worked briefly in the Sheridan school district, and have now spent 7 years at STEM teaching level 4, 4/5, 3/4, and 2.

This year I will be wearing several hats!  From 8:15-10:30 I will be working as a K-5 interventionist, helping to erase some of the COVID and summer loss to help kids get back up to level.  From 12-1:30 I will be doing a new elective for 2-5 centered around Project Lead The Way, focusing on Science and Engineering.  From 1:50-3:20 I will be the K-1 tech teacher focusing on Digital Citizenship and project based learning.

Teaching Philosophy
I love for students to take ownership of their work. I know that within each child is a budding adult who will be the leader of tomorrow. I believe that when they believe in themselves, amazing things are possible. I want my groups to be a place where children bloom and discover who they are and what it is they really love and enjoy.

About Me
I have a wonderful husband named Taylor, and several beautiful cats named Kiva, Lyra, Calypso and our forever foster Thyme. We moved back in order to be closer to family, and have been blessed to be able to do so. My family still resides in Colorado, though we are stretched out a little more as we have grown in size through marriage. I am an avid book reader, often devouring 2 books in a typical week.  Currently, my husband and I foster kittens for a local rescue.  If you're having a hard day, just ask for pictures. Their tiny antics will brighten any day!
