Education and Experience
I am a home grown Coloradan having done my entire pre-college years in the Eagle Valley School District. After graduation I was able to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for four years. There I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. Through the University I was able to complete my student teaching in the Aldine Independent School District which resides in the heart of the Houston Metro area.
After completing my student teaching I moved back to Utah and there moved with my husband down to Phoenix. I taught in the Madison Elementary School district for five years. There I was heavily involved in our transition from a traditional school to an International Baccalaureate school, piloted a Bring Your Own Device program, and established the First Lego League Robotics club. When given a chance to return home to Colorado my husband and I jumped at the chance. STEM is my very favorite school I have ever taught at and I am beyond excited to teach levels 2 and 3 this year!
I love for students to take ownership of their work. I believe that when they believe amazing things are possible. I want my classroom to be a place where children bloom and discover who they are and what it is they really love and enjoy.
I have a wonderful husband named Taylor, and two beautiful cats named Kiva and Lyra. We moved back in order to be closer to family, and have been blessed to be able to do so. My family still resides in Colorado, though we are stretched out a little more as we have grown in size through marriage. I am an avid book reader, often devouring 3-4 books in a typical week. As can be expected, my favorite haunt is the library and I have set a personal goal to have a card at every library district where they will allow me to take one out. I enjoy hiking though with the cold weather here it does not occur as often as I would like!
