Hello Metz Families,
I am so excited to announce that Metz will be transitioning to the Metropolitan Arts Academy next year (Fall 2019.) In addition to having preschool through 5th grade, we will be adding 6th grade next year as well. The following year (2020-2021), we will add 7th grade and then 8th grade the year after that (2021-2022.) At that point, we will be a PK-8 arts school.
If your 5th grade student would like to continue at the Academy next year, please contact our office or email Jason at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have already enrolled your child (most likely at Ranum Middle School) we can help you change your school location.
The Metropolitan Arts Academy will continue to offer high-quality math, science, social studies and literacy classes. In addition, we will be expanding our offerings to include dance, drama, and instrumental/vocal music and art classes. Westminster High School has a thriving and high-quality arts program and our school will set them up for success at the high school level.
You should also know that all WPS schools will continue to offer quality art and music programs.
If your child would like to continue at the Academy next year, you have a guaranteed priority enrollment slot if you complete the forms included in this mailer by March 20th: (Step 1-Complete Application Process) NOTE Forms are available at the school.

Our arts magnet school will have a different structure than our traditional elementary schools and you should be aware of the following changes:
- We will have an additional 3 days at the end of the school year
- We will have an early release at 1:40 every Monday and students will need to be picked up at 1:40
- We will have extended days until 3:40 Tuesday through Friday.
- Although we will not have a traditional physical education class, we will continue to support physical health and wellness through creative movement, dance, recess and other non-traditional methods.
Once you have completed the forms (Step 1) and returned them to the school, we will process your application and give you directions about how to complete your online registration at www.westminsterpublicschools.org (Step 2.) You will need to select Metz from the dropdown menu for each student attending and complete the online enrollment process.
If your child does not wish to continue at Metz, we invite you to view the other school options available in our district. It is imperative that you complete the application process (Step 1) by March 20th to be considered for priority enrollment.
We will also be hosting community nights in March, April and May to share more about the school, answer questions and support with online registration. These dates will be on the monthly calendar, website and posted on our school Facebook as well.
