    Claudette Trujillo is in her 21st year in education and 12th year in a competency based system in Westminster Public Schools located in Colorado.  She is currently serving in Westminster Public Schools as the Principal of Metropolitan Arts Academy.

    She has served her community in a variety of roles including Principal for both elementary & a PK-8 innovation school, Middle School Teacher, Assistant Principal & Instructional Coach, Alternative High School Teacher and competency-based parent.  She is the Principal of Metropolitan Arts Academy, a public innovation school in Westminster Public Schools. She is also the co-chair of the Westminster Public Schools Equity Council. 

    Claudette has supported the implementation of competency-based education through work with a variety of committees and advisory groups both in her district and with various publications through Aurora Institute (formally Inacol.) She has also supported this early work through leading professional development with the Re-Inventing Schools Coalition in Maine and as a participant of the 2017 National Summit on Competency-Based Education.  She has been a contributed to many published articles on competency based education through the Auroria Institute and recently interviewed by “Get Smart” to share her experiences on implementing a competency based model.
