Dear Westy Wolves,
This is one of the hardest messages I have had to deliver to my students because our favorite thing to do is to celebrate you and be involved in the very best times of your lives.
You have all worked so hard to get to this point in your lives and you deserve the chance to celebrate with your friends, but because of the COVID-19 outbreak the final months of this year have been dramatically changed. I want to thank you for your patience and kindness with each other and your teachers as we tackle these very difficult times.
Because your health and safety is always our highest priority I need to let you know that we are cancelling this spring’s Junior/Senior Prom. While this is a difficult decision I wanted to let you know as soon as possible to avoid possible expenses you could incur such as reservations, clothing etc. We will continue to look at creative ways to capture what is a special moment for many high school students. We will be working with our Student Council to explore options and your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
The next, obvious question is, “What about Graduation?” We are committed to finding a way to properly recognize the class of 2020’s accomplishments in a meaningful way. The ceremony may be pushed to a later date in the summer and/or combined with a creative event in the near future but you will be celebrated and possibly twice!
While much remains up in the air right now, I guarantee you that we are making every effort to give you the kind of sendoff you deserve and one that you want. I will be in continual communication with you as we move forward.
Please take care of yourself and your family.
All My Best,
Ms. Kiffany Kiewiet
