Letter From the Principal's Desk:
Dear Students, Families and the Shaw Heights Community,
October is already here and classes are in full swing. Students are adjusting to their new schedules and routines with data binders to organize learning using a notetaking system called Cornell notes.
On Thursday, Oct. 5, we are introducing an exciting new program at Shaw Heights that has had great success within our district. The Parent Academy for Student Success (PASS) program invites all parents to get involved. Two sessions will be held in English and Spanish on Oct. 5, at both 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. We will have free snacks and childcare available for both sessions.
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, we will have our 4th Annual Showcase from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westminster High School. This is a great way for families and students to see first-hand the variety of programs and organizations offered for students in WPS. Click here for more information about the WPS 4th Annual Showcase.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. We are continuing the format of student-involved conferences as students will be sharing updates from their data catcher which should include PARCC results, Scantron and other benchmarks used by the district.
Lastly, we would like to encourage all Shaw Heights families to connect with us this school year for the latest news, events and more by downloading the WPS app today. Also, we invite everyone to follow our Facebook page and YouTube channel to watch videos and for a more personal insight into what's happening within your child's education.
Thanks for helping us to be Better Together!
