I know that these are trying times and we are all strong and will get through this! During the upcoming school days we want students to stay safe and continue their learning. That is why we will be using Empower for extended learning. Students have all practiced logging into Empower and finding our group work throughout the beginning of the school year. Each day we will also have a Zoom meeting and parents please feel free to join if you have questions or concerns! Zoom meeting links are also in Empower but classroom teachers sent home a master schedule of Zoom links prior to moving towards remote learning. Please reach out to me if you need additional help with Zoom or need the links resent.
In here your child will find daily work from teachers each day. Students in my CLD group or Strucutred Literacy group can find work from me by looking for my picture. The class title will be "CLD L_" refering to their level. Strucutred literacy students will find their work under "A Structured Literacy". All work that is assigned will be specific to their level and will be counted as evidence for completion of their level. That is why it is very important that your child completes their work every day and not fall behind.
The best way to communicate with me is through your class dojo account on your phone. The application is in the Google play store and Apple Market. The website is: www.classdojo.com. If you still need accesss to ClassDojo please email myself using the email below so I can add you!
You can also contact me through my district email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be patient for a response as I am teaching Zoom classes from 8:30am-2:10pm each day.
I thank you for you continued support of your child at home and showing them that their education is important.
Meet Ms. Simons!
I have been at Sunset Ridge Elementary for the past seven years as the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education Specialist. I started my teaching career 13 years ago as a third grade classroom teacher and since then I have spent many years teaching K-6 English Language Learners in a variety of capacities.
I graduated from Metropolitan State University (MSU) with a BA in Human Development and Elementary Education. I graduated with my MA.E in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of Colorado (CU).
I am a Colorado native. In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, gardening, reading, baking, staying active, all water sports (lake, river, or ocean!), and spending time with family and friends.
I love teaching and making sure each child has a positive experience at school!
