Welcome to the 2013-14 school year and the return of the D50 Insider!

The new school year means there is a lot to share with you. District 50 students headed back to the classroom this week and we have plenty of pictures and a video to share with you about the big day. Colorado STEM Academy opened its doors to a group of enthusiastic students and parents.

The results are in from last spring’s important TCAP tests and they show that District 50 continues to move in the right direction. We’ve got the details and a link where you can look at the numbers for yourself.

District 50 voters will be asked to support a mill levy override in November that will allow our schools to maintain their educational programming and make up for a shortfall in revenue from the state of Colorado. You can learn more about it inside.

As the school year gets underway, there are some principal changes to tell you about it. We’ll bring you up to speed and also tell you about our new teachers.

It was also a busy summer in terms of construction and renovation work across the district. Students will be cooler and safer because of it.

This year’s welcome back rally honored the District’s long-time employees and shared stories about what many of the people did over the summer.

Even before classes started, Westminster High School’s freshman class spent some time at their new school and got some advice from some sophomores, juniors and seniors. We have a video to share with you.

If you are a graduate of the old Westminster or Ranum High School, there is an alumni golf tournament coming in September that you will want to know about. We have details.

Finally, registration is now underway for the 3rd annual “Run with the Wolves” 5-k race.

As always, we have complete listings for D50 TV and a calendar of events.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great year.
