Landgraf, who grew up in the community and graduated from Westminster High School in 1962 served two separate terms on the board, played a pivotal role in the development of Westminster Public Schools. He was first elected to the School Board in 1977 for a four-year term and was re-elected for a second term in 1981. In 2011, he came out of retirement to again help lead the district.

James Duffy, Chief Operating Officer for WPS, introduced the resolution describing Landgraf as “a local kid made good.” He added, “he went on to found Landgraf Plumbing at age 28. Over the years the company grew to employ over 500 people and gained a reputation for the quality of work provided. Always on the lookout for talented employees, he hired district students and alumni whenever he could.”

In 2014, Mr. Landgraf was awarded the Colorado Association of School Boards’ McGuffey Award for outstanding service to the profession.

Landgraf died in 2015 at the age of 70.
