Harris Park’s Jeff Raposa Named a 2019 Teacher of the Year
Jeff Raposa, a classroom teacher at Harris Park Elementary was selected as one of three educators in Westminster Public Schools who were honored as 2019 Westminster Elks Teachers of the Year honor. 17 years ago, Raposa began his teaching career at Harris Park; he has never wanted to be anywhere else.
Before becoming a teacher, Raposa worked in New York City as an Environmental Engineer for the NYC Housing Authority. “Every day at work I would see kids not in school, living in horrible conditions,” said Raposa. “ I would think, ‘Wow, how are these kids surviving?’ and so it made me realize that I want to work with kids." After coming to this realization, Raposa went back to school for his teaching license at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Watch the video above to get a closer look at Raposa’s teaching styles and hear about what he’s grateful for everyday that he’s in the classroom.
